Kraven the Hunter feels like a throwback to the era when Hollywood was still figuring out how to make comic book movies—the days of Blade, Daredevil, and other mishandled Marvel and DC projects. The film nails the tone and presents intriguing characters with unique quirks, setting them apart from typical thriller archetypes. However, it operates within a plot that fluctuates between nonsensical and outright ridiculous.

Like other recent Spider-Man spin-offs from Sony, the movie reimagines Kraven as an antihero rather than a straight-up villain, giving him a sympathetic motivation as he embarks on a violent quest for vengeance. The story itself follows a classic revenge premise, but the details of the plot are where things start to fall apart. Instead of a solid narrative foundation, the film leans heavily on its characters to carry the weight—which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does leave the movie feeling somewhat disjointed.

Pacing is one of the film’s strengths—not because the story flows seamlessly, but because it never lingers long enough to expose its narrative flaws. The moment you start thinking too hard about what’s happening, the immersion starts to crack. Some of the dialogue also feels like filler, with characters saying things that don’t add much to the overall experience.

That said, the script does manage to create tension and place its characters in high-stakes situations. There’s always another action sequence or thrilling moment just around the corner, keeping the movie engaging in the moment. But by the time the credits roll, it all adds up to a film that’s ultimately forgettable.
